Redbull sucks
I've come to the realization that I need to focus more on myself and be happier with the situation I'm in at the moment... regardless of being on my own. Granted it's quite lonely living here in Vegas, but at least I'm finding out the things that I like to do.
Here are just a few of the things I've been doing to keep me at peace or at least sane:
* Working on new jigsaw puzzles
* Hanging out at Borders looking for new books to read
* Going to the gym
* Yoga
* Listening to My Morning Jacket on repeat
* Watching both season finales of Dexter and Californication while drinking instant Tim Hortons' French Vanilla... the best!!
* Bubble baths
* Doing my new dance workout to Lady GaGa
* Staring out the window for literally hours watching the snow fall
* Eating at my favorite Pho place while reading quantum physics (reminds my of my days at UofA)
*Midnight hockey game with my lil sis and 5,000 drunk hockey fans

Finally!
No more bumming out for this girl! I've had the most amazing day (blog soon to come) and all because I put my foot down after reading this quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer: Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.
Also it helped that my mom has now jumped on the band wagon of sending mass emails, but managed to send me the funniest thing I've heard/read in a long time. Talking (more like crying) to her two days ago she told me to check my email and I'd find something that would get me to snap out of it, if only for a few minutes. I thought I would share with the rest of you to start this blog off right. It will totally make you laugh:
SAYING GOODBYE TO MOTHER......
You Don't Have To Own A Cat To Appreciate This One! You don't even
have to like them.
We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We
turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on,covered our
pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard.
We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house.
The cat that we had put out in the yard, scoots back into the house. We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird.
My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The
cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife
doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the
night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon,
'He's just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother.'
A few minutes later, I get into the cab. 'Sorry I took so long,' I
said, as we drove away.
'That stupid bitch was hiding under the bed. I had to
poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take
off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a
blanket to keep her from scratcing me.
But it worked! I hauled her fat ass
downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!'
The cab driver hit a parked car.

Bummin out in Vegas
Honestly this past holiday was not easy on me and being alone on Thanksgiving really sucked. I had to work on the show that week and I'm not used to being tied down to Vegas longer than a month. (Thank goodness for my Vancouver trip or I might have gone insane!) Really why do we need to celebrate this holiday when everyday we should be grateful for our life, family and friends? Yet the more I told myself that, the more bummed I got. I decided to turn my phone off to stop the incessant flood of mass texts saying "Happy Thanksgiving!" Making yummy spaghetti I watched football and old episodes of The Office and went to bed. - Mommy I promise I won't miss next year's Thanksgiving.
I'm finishing up a bunch of blogs for pokerlistings about playing up in Vancouver for the BC Poker Championship and also about working on The Real Deal. Be expecting those very soon. Lots of fun stuff... just had to wait to snap out of this funk to finish writing on a chipper note.
Here's something to lighten the mood and make you laugh. Last night on CBC in Canada I appeared on This hour has 22 minutes with Raj Binder ( Shaun Majumder) and few of my good friends.

What a day!
Having to arrive at The Bank at Bellagio at 11:00 it was required that I stay till 2:30 in the morning... Shiza! The place was jam packed and filled with almost all my friends. It was fun minus a few haters/fake people I had to deal with, but none the less always good to see and hang out with good friends. I would like to give a special thanks to everyone that showed up and supported me at this party. I love you guys! Especially Liz Lieu who saved the day. You're the best! xoxo

Bitter sweet
I voted last night and at the very last minute... no joke. I arrived with 12 minutes to spare and not one person in line! Since I didn't go to the exact polling place (20 minutes away) I had to vote on a provisional ballot. F*ckin lame! This only allowed me to vote for the president and congressional elect. Instead of using the new monitors to vote I had a tangible ballot where I had to complete an arrow to the right of the person I chose.
Looking like this: <-- --<
Now everyone knows I'm a die hard Republican, went to University of Arizona, I've worked on McCain's campaigns, and I had no clue who to vote for. Even last week I was still on the fence. Being a political science major in college, elections are very important to me. It is our civic duty as Americans to go out and exercise our right to vote. There are soldiers who fight and die for all of us to live in a democratic country. Yes voting for a president is almost obsolete with the electoral college, but voting for local and state politicians are so important and just a few votes have a huge impact on your community.
Opening the ballot to make my decision I had to pause for a moment. It was so hard to see someone that I have supported ever since I was 18 years old and know he was not going to get my vote. Marking the arrow next to Obama felt as though I was stabbing a friend in the back. Although I know I made the right decision (hopefully) I still couldn't believe McCain had changed so much. He is an amazing Senator and someone that I strongly believe has done more for our country than many of our past presidents being a Prisoner of War. I do love Senator McCain and have for over a decade, but after recent events in our country I don't believe he is right for change that is so desperately needed. Even with this knowledge, I couldn't help but feel guilty for voting for Obama. I've never voted Democrat in my entire voting life. Is it possible to be the only person with this hanging over my head? I am happy with the decsion, but still can't shake this feeling.
President Obama, congratulations on your victory. Please don't prove me wrong.

Laughing my ass off...
In case you actually want to know who the poker pros are voting for (if they really do go out and vote) here they are:

Looks like I'm headed to the polls and for once I'm voting for a Democrat. McCain I wish you were still the same Senator that I once loved. =(

What a day!
There must be something about those first few things I mentioned, because today was fantastic! I'll have to do it exactly the same tomorrow morning and see what happens. After I got ready my dad came to my house and I was able to pretend he was my "live audience" and rehearse my lines. He's the best because he'll tell me when I make a mistake or miss a line, while others would say, " You did great!" He also says I'm doing great, but at least he's honest with me.
Today at the Real Deal! we had our first live audience. It's not open to the public until next week for our soft opening, but we're having Venetian employees come in for a free show. This way we can rehearse and get everything perfect for opening day (October 21st). Let me tell you I was nervous! I wouldn't let myself think too much about having the audience leading up to today. It didn't even hit me until I was being introduced and bright lights were shining in my eyes. As soon as I rasied the mic to speak I thought: Holy Moly! I'm talking to a lot of people and they are all looking at me!
It was quite humorous on the inside. The only way I can explain it is I was in the moment. It was there and I took it and even though I was scared... I did it anyway! This might not make any sense, and it is getting past my bedtime, so please bear with me. I'll save it for a longer blog so I can talk about it a little more in depth. In the end we had a great rehearsal and had two great pros Jennifer Harman and Eli Elezra along with Paul Rodriguez as the Host. It was so much fun.
Running from the show I took my Dad to the airport. He's going to the beach in South Carolina and the Citadel game on Saturday. SO jealous! Only the night didn't end there, it got better! I got a text to get my sexy ass down to the Orleans and sweat one of my favorite poker players/ girlfriends. Yes my home slice is in town and my other friends are soon to follow!! Esther Taylor, better known as Etay!(exclamation point included)is back in Vegas after being gone way too long.
Etay! was at the last two tables in the nightly tournament and I sat behind and watched her pound fists with players while she took pots from them. Classic. I swear Maria Ho and Etay know how to juice a table and make friends... or enemies ( Legends of Poker drama lol) with anyone and it's always fun to watch. After my little homie busted I stayed a little longer while she waited for an Omaha table to open up. It was great to finally catch up and talk one on one with a friend. Not to mention I think it's impossible to be around her and not have a good time. And from there I came home with my little sis sleeping on the couch. Erinn moved into my house last week and it's been great. I never have roomates, but this is different. I feel like I have a home with family now, which is quite refreshing when I've been on my own for so many years. Life is good.

Off to a great start...
This morning was amazing. I had to wake up early for rehearsal and decided on 7:30. Not wanting to leave my sandy white beaches I bargained with the snooze button for 8am. I spent the morning getting ready by listening to My Morning Jacket's Evil Urges album. The same album I've been listening to for the past 15 days. They're that good.
By the way...did you know that a cow can drink up to a full bathtub of water every day? Yes that was my fun zoo fact of the day when I had my oatmeal this morning. Not actually from the oatmeal... the disposable bowls I found this summer that I think are awesome. Here's a brain bender: A duck's quack has no echo. Now what's up with that??
Again here I go with tangents, but it's getting late and I'm being harassed for not keeping the fam and friends posted. At least I'll make my mom laugh. Getting back to my sign of the day.
Driving up to the front of the Venetian this morning (which normally I would start parking in the employee parking) I saw a huge crowd waiting out in the front of the valet/ front lobby. At the same time I'm arriving, there is a police motorcade that drives in front with numerous white vans that pull up behind it and park along the curb. It was confusing to see what was going on and suddenly the crowd bursts into applause. Getting out of the car hesitantly I make my way along the edge of the crowd to get inside.
As I get closer to the door I see people holding signs and shouting in joy all the while still clapping. I realize they are welcoming troops: You're our heroes! We salute you! Thank you for your service! We love you! Those were just a few of the signs. It was absolutely breathtaking to see. There were hundreds of people lined up clapping, but it didn't just stop on the outside of the hotel. As I made my way in heading to the theater, I noticed there were people lined on both sides of the walkway all through the casino. Picture walking down from the front lobby where the ceiling is painted like the sky along with other artwork that you could only find in Venice. Now picture a row of people on each side clapping nonstop holding loving signs of gratitude. It was surreal. I find out that the Venetian is welcoming 40 troops injured in combat for a weekend getaway. I think my heart melted when I found out what I had just witnessed.
Not wanting to leave that beautiful energy I rushed down to the Wayne Brady Theater which we share for the Real Deal!- exclamation point included. :) It's so exciting to walk into the theater and see the stage. I keep picturing all the seats filled and what it will be like on opening night. It's a crazy, nervous, butterflies on crack type of feeling that I get in the core of my body. What a feeling that is! Leaving on a good note, I must get to bed. I'll be posting more. I promise.
Bonne nuit!

Things keep getting better...
This past week has been incredible. Ending one of my top 5 favorite trips, shooting the cover of BLUFF, beginning a new chapter in my life and now getting ready for the show to start. Here's a pic of the stage of the Real Deal! I'm so excited for the show. As soon as I walked into the theater last week it started to sink in. I'm going to be the hostess of the Real Deal! OMG! My Mom and best friend Alex were the ones that showed this kind of excitement from the beginning that I'm only now starting to feel. This show is going to be so much fun and everyone is going to love it, I guarantee it. I'll make sure to write more about the show as the days get closer.
Wishful thinking on my part saying that I would be able to catch up with my writing. But after being home for a week now I do believe that I have only 25% to finish on my "to do" list. That my friends is a great feeling. With all the things going on and coming up it's been hard to actually sit down and write. So many changes in my life and wonderful things keep happening that it's hard to give it justice by empty words on a computer screen. Today I'll be writing my Pokerlistings blog and spending some quality time to express the amazing 3 weeks I had on the East Coast, the Real Deal, the cover shoot, and much more fun stories with the girls in town.

Back to bloging...
I've finally had some time to sit down and write these past few days. Right now I'm in Atlantic City at Borgata for two weeks. The Borgata Poker Open has kicked off with record breaking numbers and lots of bad players. So hurry your butts out here! This time they've guaranteed the prize pool of the main event for 5 million dollars! You can read up on that and all the new things going on in my
pokerlistings blog
In the mean time I'm going to chill at the Tocarre Spa. It's been a disappointing day for me and I need to clear my head. No worries though, all is well, especially after a nice massage.

Moments of clarity
The photo of the sky is the exact opposite of the sky above me. It's becoming monsoon season (my favorite time) here in Las Vegas. The clouds are thick and black swallowing the sun. You can hear the thunder rolling, yet it has not rained. The anticipation is fun for me. I love the rain. I remember in Texas there would be flood warnings and we knew we'd be stuck in our house for a few days. My mother, being the smartest woman alive, would take my little sister and I to the same four places to "stock up" on everything we would need. Without fail we'd go to HEB (a supermarket), Blockbusters, the Bookstop, and the liquor store. It was those days I loved the most. My mother would start a fire in the fire place and we never ran out of fun things to do. It almost seemed like a mini vacation. Watching the rain pound on the glass for hours never got boring to me. I love the rain.
I've been taking some "me" time these past few weeks and it has done wonders! I wish I could fill everyone in on all the great things happening or about to happen. I felt like writing this blog to catch a fleeting feeling I didn't want to forget. Instead of keeping it to myself I felt like sharing. Maybe there are stressful things going on around you at the moment, hopefully not. Take a few minutes each day for yourself. Think about the things that make you happy. Jot down a fond memory enjoying that moment or put yourself back in that place. Remember the sounds, smells, and visualise your surroundings. I swear doing this on a regular basis is better than Prozac, but don't quote me... I'm not a doctor.

Dang it!
Last night I couldn't take it anymore! After only 41 hours of being on the master cleanse, I broke down and had a friend run to Carl's Jr and buy me a chicken sandwich. Please forgive me Etay. It was the best chicken sandwich I had ever tasted in my life! Yummy BBQ sauce oozed all over my fingertips as I inhaled it as fast as humanly possible. I believe it took 25.6 seconds total. It was quickly joked about soon after. "By the way... did you know she's on the Master Cleanse?" hahahaha "Really?? That shit is crazy!" Yes indeed, it is crazy.
Now I have to add 2 more days to this damn thing! But I'm not worried. I'm determined. In fact, my moment of weakness could have all been avoided if I had stayed more focused on the end result. It's all about will power... and gettin' skinny. JK. The most important reason for me to do this is to get rid of all the toxins in my body and become clean and sober. With so many things going on in my crazy life, it's so important to take care of myself. I'm at an age where I must take responsibility for my actions. So many doors have opened up for me that I would be stupid if I thought that I could carry on my same lifestyle.
Basically it all boils down to this... My life has just begun on a new and exciting path. I must take all the right steps to make sure I don't wander off the beaten path I've done so many times before. I have to stay focused! I can't wait to start this new chapter in my life! Get ready for some exciting things real soon.

My thoughts on day one...
Pic from Hong Kong- the best sushi I've ever had. Aside from Lahaina with Etay and Shannon... maybe the video black jack makes it taste better??
*I always forget how much I love food until I do the Master Cleanse. I seriously love to eat. On average I eat 5-6 small meals a day. My favorite things to eat: Thai, Italian, Sushi/ Japanese... actually to make this list is pointless because any type of food is great with me. I enjoy going to new restaurants and trying things I've never had before.
* The salt water flush in the morning is just plain gross.
* Took a nap and all I dreamed about was food. Ugh! As soon as I woke up I had to drink more of the lemonade. After that the hunger went away pretty quickly, but I still thought about food every few seconds.
* I frequently would ask what people are eating/had eaten that day almost as if I was having my own fantasy of eating that same meal.
*Watching TV sucks! Every commercial advertises food to buy or yummy restaurants with plates full of delicious food inticing you to go there as fast as you can.
* Had to go to the supermarket to buy lemons and more toilet paper. The two things you should just buy in bulk in the begining. It's freaking torture to walk into a Grocery Store! The urge to knock over the stand with bags of chocolate brownie cookies was almost too much to handle. If only the cashier wasn't looking...
Cleanse with a friend... maybe this time I'll stick to it!
The master cleanse dropout is back at it again. Day one of the lemonade diet has begun. 9 more days to go! This time I'm not doing it alone. My friend Etay (picture above at Stoneys) is going to suffer through this with me. After this Master Cleanse you're going to see a new and improved Lacey. I'll be healthier, leaner, more focused and most importantly sober. I can't wait!

Well no love in the Razz tournament my friends. I bricked out and paired up every hand of ay 2. Congatulations to Barry Greenstein for winning the bracelet! Lucky for me there are more stud events coming up. I'll keep everyone posted.
I hope everyone has a great Father's day today.

Another little update while I battle with insomnia
I realized scrolling down my blog that I first off have to say that I'm a Master Cleanse dropout. Only lasted 3 out of the 10 days without eating and Anisia's yummy brownie birthday cake and champagne was way too tempting. I guess if you're going to quit the MC then you may as well do it right . I'll be starting it up again after the WSOP is over.
Also a lot of you have been asking about the Hard Rock's photoshoot/ video shoot I did. Yes that is me and a bunch of hot chicks on HR's Rehab site and on the monitors in the HR. For those of you that don't know "Rehab" is a crazy party every Sunday at the Hard Rock Hotel. Check it out! You can even play me as a bad ass chicken fighter on the game they have.

Coast to Coast Poker Championships
I just busted from the 1k bounty tournament here at the Coast to Coast. Bummer, but It's almost impossible to be tilted when you play in Vancouver. The second I walk outside I always seem to reset and find something fun to do. I'll be going more into detail about the tournament itself on my poker listings blog, but I must say I love playing here at the River Rock. Even with a $1k bounty on my head I had a great time... if only I hadn't gone card dead in the last few levels. Guess I'm saving it all up for the main event Friday. I can't wait! Either way things have been pretty difficult for me these past 2 months so I'm here to have fun!
It's amazing how the second I left Vegas I feel as though I'm slowly getting back to my old self. It's been very difficult getting back on my feet again. If it wasn't one thing it was the next and then some. I know I haven't blogged in forever and things are still a bit vague, but all there is to say is that I'm surprised I made it through. Enough about sad shit... things have been so great the past few days! I'll make sure to write more a little later when I have a bit more time. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Time for a GOOD laugh
A good friend forwarded an email that will truly make you laugh. I had to share it with y'all. ----->
Turn up your sound and click on the website below. This accident happened in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and you must listen to it. It is a phone call from a man who witnesses a car accident involving four elderly women. It was so popular when they played it on CHUM FM that they had to put it on their website. The guy's laugh is contagious. If you close your eyes and picture what he is watching, it is even better than a video clip!

2 days till the big V day
Since it's close to Valentine's day I thought I would share my moment. I was in one of the rooms at the doctor's office. The door was open and I noticed an old man slowly walking by. He looked at me and smiled. He was the type of old man that just looked sweet and had one of those smiles that his whole face would light up. Genuine. A nurse was helping him into the room across from me. He turned to her and said, "Don't forget my love is still behind...I couldn't even think with out her." A few seconds later the cutest little old woman appeared. She was so tiny and moved slower than an inch worm as she shuffled her feet. I couldn't help but smile to myself and think it was the sweetest thing I've seen in a long time. Love like that is something you don't find everyday. I pray that all of you find or have found that love and cherish it each and every day of your life. Next blog I'll write a little more mushy stuff... just a small warning... you may feel all gushy inside. ;)

Too much fun at the .99c only store
This time was just as fun and I was as sober as a nun. We went down each isle and each one had at least 5-10 items that would make you laugh. If it wasn't the name of the product it was the product itself. Old VHS tapes of the 2000 election BUSH vs GORE, more do rags than you know what to do with, pink hambuger helper, and large ceramic penguins are only the tip of the iceberg. In all seriousness, they do have plenty of items that are a great deal. Things like AA batteries, sponges, and crazy colored nail polish were quickly tossed into the basket.
Also if you're into people watching, you're in luck. This just so happens to be the prime spot for all those interesting characters that you see from time to time. And again I'm not saying everyone in the store is a wack job, normal people shop there too. It does seem like the ratio of ordinary people vs. mental patients happens to be a little off when compared to a regular supermarket.
And to save the best part for last... As we we checking out we heard the intercom with a woman's concerned voice, "Price check on lane 5." Heath and I laughed to the point tears were in our eyes. Good times.
By the way if you're looking for white hangers the .99c store is not the place.

Back on track
Sunday was spent playing poker at Mandalay and the Red Rock. I must say playing poker against people that were more interested in watching the Superbowl was easier than shooting fish in a barrel. I didn't even need to look at my cards and would still win pots, no joke. Sigh. If only everyday was that easy.
The following day was a long one. Waking up at 5:30am we had to catch an early flight to Seattle. I had never been to this beautiful city and it already lived up to its standards. It rained the whole day. What a surprise. Regardless it's a great place and we'll be back again. Not to mention it's close to Vancouver, so next time I'll make a quick run for the border.

My last few days in Sin City
Saturday I finally got to a hockey game! Woo hoo! The last time I watched live hockey was back in May for the Canucks vs. Ducks in the playoffs. The Las Vegas Wranglers are an ECHL team, but pretty damn good for a farm team. I went with my Dad (the die hard fan) and Heath. They lost, which was shocking given they beat the same team 5-0 the night before. Hmmm something tells me the players from Victoria must have been partying the night before the first game. I'd be surprised to know the statistics for teams getting their asses kicked because they get sucked into the Vegas clubs instead of getting a good nights rest. Victoria ended up winnng 3-1 against Vegas. Lame. Although there was a pretty awsome fight once the game was over. Heath didn't think it was that cool. He's watched people getting their face smashed in on a regular basis. What's a hockey fight when they all have protection, right?

A much needed day off...
Finally I have a free day! Only thing important to do is workout, make some phone calls and get plenty of beauty rest for another photoshoot tomorrow. The shoot is a fashion spread featuring the new stores at the Palazzo, Venetian's new tower. I can't wait! It's an early call time, so gotta finish running and get to bed. Catch up with y'all soon! :)

Busy Busy
Yesterday I did a video interview with cardplayer magazine and had Kristy Arnett interview me. It was fun to have the tables turned, but I had to keep myself from asking her questions. Silly me, always ready to work when the camera is on. From there I had to run up to the Fantasy Suite at the Palms to host a presentaion for ClearWire. CES (Consumer Electronic Show) is in town and everything electronic is debuting their products. It was nice not having to work the actual convention this year and only work for a few hours. Usually you spend 4 days in heels having to deal with over 140,000 people in and out of your booth. The past few years I worked for Sony, which I loved, but my feet hated it. On my breaks I would always walk around and play with everything like a 5 year old kid on Christmas. " Oh wow, what the hell is this?!" Fun stuff. Time to take a nap kids... my 5 hour energy drink is now going on its 7th hour. 'Till next time. ;)
